Self-Instructional CME for Cardiac Sonographers
Up to ten new echocardiography activities every year. Pass the quiz and your credit is filed to SDMS automatically. No upload, no waiting.
Never Scramble for Credits Again
Not every facility gives you enough CME opportunities to hit your cycle, so every year, sonographers end up online in November or December, searching for whatever credits are cheap and available. Every September 1st, new credits land in your account instead. Log in, pass a quick quiz, and it's done.
CME That Keeps You Current
The Echo Journal's CME program blends current guidelines, new research, and real cases to keep your skills sharp, not just your certification current. Pass the quiz and your credit is filed to SDMS automatically, no manual upload, no certificate to track down. New credit activities, every September.
-
Every activity is built around current guidelines, new research, and real clinical cases. You are learning what applies to your scans today, not reviewing material that was accurate several years ago.
-
Each activity is developed by practicing cardiac sonographers who understand the day-to-day realities of scanning, reporting, and working alongside cardiologists.
-
Read the activity and complete a short quiz on your own schedule. There is no set enrollment period and no travel required.
-
Once you pass the quiz, your credit is filed directly to your SDMS account. There is no certificate to save, upload, or track down later.
-
Ten new credits are released every September. You always know when your credits are coming, so your cycle stays on track throughout the year.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
These CME activities are approved through the SDMS and are accepted for credential maintenance by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), and Sonography Canada. It is your responsibility to confirm that SDMS-approved activities satisfy the specific requirements of your credential renewal cycle.
-
You have up to three attempts to achieve a passing score of 80% or higher on each activity. We recommend reviewing the lesson material before each retake. If you do not reach 80% within three attempts, no credit will be awarded for that activity and it will be considered exhausted for the subscription year.
-
Starting in 2026, ARDMS requires all RDCS holders to complete SKILLS Knowledge Confirmation each year, a set of quarterly quizzes graded pass/fail. Completing every quarter can count toward up to 5 of your 30 required CME credits per 3-year cycle. The core requirement hasn't changed. You still need 30 credits every 3 years. SKILLS just gives you one way to earn part of that total, if you complete all four quizzes on time and hit the required score every year.
-
After passing the quiz, you will complete a short CME claim form with your SDMS account number and associated email address. Once submitted, your claim is sent directly to the SDMS through our integrated system. Please allow 7–10 days for the SDMS to process your claim and upload the certificate to your SDMS account. You do not need to do anything else — there is no manual upload required on your end.
-
No problem. If you do not have an existing SDMS account, one will be created for you by the SDMS using the email address you provide on the claim form. Make sure you use an email address you have ongoing access to, as your certificate and future SDMS correspondence will be sent there.
-
Ten new CME activities are released every July 1st, updated to reflect the latest guidelines and current research in cardiac sonography. All active subscribers receive access to the new set automatically — no action needed on your end.
-
Yes. Your activity credits are valid for the subscription year running July 1 through June 30. All activities must be completed and claims submitted before July 1, when the activity set resets for the new year. Unused credits do not roll over, so we recommend spacing your activities throughout the year rather than waiting until June.
-
Refund requests must be submitted within 7 days of your purchase date by filling out our Contact Form. Requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If any CME activity content has been accessed, the subscription is no longer eligible for a refund regardless of how many activities were completed. Please review our full Return Policy for details.
